FAQs
-
I'm currently not accepting new clients, but I invite you to join my waitlist - email me at info@ayannalmhc.com with a bit about your schedule and what you're looking for, and I'll reach out as soon as space opens up.
-
I no longer offer free 15-minute consultation calls. Instead, we begin with a full intake session, which gives us a real opportunity to get to know each other and determine fit. If you have specific questions before booking, feel free to email me directly at info@ayannalmhc.com.
-
The intake is a fairly structured interview, where we'll gather background information and discuss what's bringing you to therapy at this time. This helps lay the foundation for our work together, and it's also your chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether this is the right fit.
-
I offer virtual therapy only, to adults located anywhere in New York State. Sessions take place over HIPAA-compliant Zoom.
-
I work exclusively with adults (18+)
-
Yes! I use two platforms - Headway & Alma - to handle administrative tasks, including insurance processing, billing, and filing insurance claims. Accepted insurance plans are listed under the Rates tab. Please note I'm not currently credentialed with Medicaid / Medicare managed plans.
-
Sessions are typically 45-60 minutes long. Most clients meet weekly, especially early in treatment, though frequency can be adjusted over time based on your needs and goals.
-
This varies from person to person. Some clients work through a specific issue in a shorter, focused timeframe, while others engage in longer-term work addressing deeper or more complex patterns. We'll check in regularly about your progress and goals so the length of treatment reflects what's actually useful to you, not a fixed timeline.
-
Yes. What you share in session is confidential, with a few legal exceptions — such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult, or if disclosure is required by court order. I'll review these limits with you in more detail during the intake.
-
I require 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are subject to the full session fee, with exceptions made for emergency situations.
-
Therapy sessions are not designed for real-time crisis support. If you're experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
